Centralia, Pennsylvania is most famously known as the town that is “always on fire”. Beneath the ground their is a coal fire that has been burning for several decades. The town has changed to a ghost town because it is “illegal” to live in the town due to the fire. Their are no flames that shoot out of the ground and everytime I have visited the town, I haven’t been able to see smoke anymore. This was once a part of town that has since been bulldozed down and no houses stand on this street anymore. You can see what used to be a driveway on the other side of the street behind the stop sign.
